Founded in 1997, the Kiwanis Club of Washington, D.C. Student Leader Awards – formerly the Joe Riley Youth Leadership Awards – recognize the outstanding leadership and achievements of students in the District of Columbia. The Club, founded in 1917, is part of a global volunteer organization dedicated to serving the children of the world.
Eligibility: Any graduating college-bound high school senior who both resides in and attends school in the District of Columbia are eligible to apply for this scholarship program. A maximum of six (6) finalists will be interviewed by a group of business and community leaders to determine the top three scholarship award winners; each finalist will also receive a laptop computer and software. The first place winner will receive a college scholarship in the amount of $17,000; the second place winner will receive a $12,000 scholarship, and the third place winner will receive a $9,500 scholarship.
